Dating Event (Afternoon Tea with movie) - Love Express Review
12/18/2016 11:24:00 amSo, now this is become more a lifestyle blog .... But, I thought it would be interesting to share this experience while I am a fresh graduate. And, I am also INVESTING in my future of love...
This event was hosted by Love Express, one of the SDNTrust Accreditation dating agency. This event was sponsored by SDN - a part of the Ministry of Social and Family Development which explains why they are supporting this event.
Maybe I'll clear up some misunderstanding that people have of these events since I have just attended one myself.
1. "Confirm awkward one. What if we have nothing to say to each other. And, it's probably like the shows where one girl talk to one guy only"
Well, to be honest, that wasn't my fear. I do talk a lot, I guess. But, that was my friend's fear! I would say there were some people who made it very awkward. Like....
"What do you do in your free time?"
"I read"
"What do you read?"
"Everything"
"Ah. So, is there anything in particular that you like?"
"No"
... (Awkward silence starts)
So, you get the picture. Of course, I could always say, I like reading to continue the conversation. But, I prefer not to dominate the whole conversation... There was also people who dominated the conversation by talking about sensitive issues which made the rest of us very uncomfortable. SO, I would say that it can be awkward, but I guess this happens sometimes even when you are meeting new people. And, people here were very open to talk!
For this event, we were sat in a group by random with two girls and two guys. It was not as intimidating as compared to one-to-one situation. Every 15 minutes, we will be rotated with a "fresh" group of guys.
2. "Confirm go these events people are those weird, not good looking. That's why have to go for this."
Well... I went for this event too... So, I should fall under the category too? I would say that most are average. But, I am not looking for any Mr or Miss Singapore contestants to talk to! If you think that way, I really do think the problem is with you and not them.
3. "Waste time. It's like a hi-bye kind of thing."
Yes, I would agree! BUT, the people there are really interesting! There was one guy from LTA, and he was in the road department. I would assume that if you are from LTA would mean that you give summons only. Joking. So, if you are look for a serious relationship, at least this is a place to start. Staying at home wouldn't give you a boyfriend/girlfriend.
4. "Very expensive just to meet people eh."
Yes. I remember seeing the price to be $49. So, it can be very costly. Do be on SDN mailing list, they do have free events time to time too! I can recommend you using Meetup! It's free and there are a lot of events apart from dating.
This is also another way to meet up with other singles. I have not been on any of these dating events on Meetup. However, I have been to other Meetups and it was a good experience.
So, I would really recommend one to try it out at least once! Initially, my friend was hesitant but she really did like the experience. I would go for another event if there's any that is suitable. Who knows, you might see me there ;)!
